Krista
Over the past couple of days, our amazing nurse Krista noticed that one of our long-time patients had been very short of breath on her visit.
She performed a full assessment and noted he had increasing lower leg edema, as well as difficulty catching his breath, which are both signs of congestive heart failure.
In consultation with the pharmacist and physician, it was agreed that this patient likely requires additional medication to control the fluid build up. If it was not caught early, this could absolutely have lead to hospitalization and a much greater level of intervention.
Krista’s astute observations and early interventions should save this patient from hospitalization. Her actions also allow the physician access to important information to prevent higher levels of institutionalized care.
We are so proud of our nursing team for everything they do daily, but the impact is especially amplified in situations where we can prevent our patient from having to go to the hospital! 💕
Natalia
Our pharmacist, Natalia, has been instrumental in creating trust in our pharmacy within the community with her sense of care and the personalized level of service she provides to each patient.
Recently, she has helped several patients with their methotrexate injections (as the feedback we’ve received is that other pharmacies aren’t as helpful with this medication).
For many people, starting this kind of therapy can be overwhelming. It’s so important to have an accessible team of health care professionals to talk to!
Natalia has been the stable, caring, and kindhearted person these people need to see when they walk through our doors. She is smart and clinically inclined, and we are so lucky to have her on our team.
