In our new Moments of Care series, each month we’ll highlight moments that show how our pharmacists and nursing team help support our clients, their families, and the community at large.
The idea for this series came about after having four very impactful nursing moments all in one August day. Honestly, our team goes above and beyond every day, but these standout moments really make me feel like such a proud boss and owner.
I wanted to share them to show some “real-life” examples of how we operate at Pinnacle, but also as a way of saying THANK YOU to my team.

Brenna
Brenna went to visit a new client who was recently discharged from hospital. This client had a need for daily suppository, but was unable to do it himself. Brenna arrived to find him in a state of incontinence, and not only spent the extra time to clean him up but also asked if we could provide incontinence products and incorporate some extra care in that area into his care plan.
She was an absolute angel to this client, and went far above her call of duty to provide him with what he needed for comfort and safety.
Melissa
Melissa made a “date day” with one of our clients! She took him out for ice cream – on her own time – simply because she’s just got the best heart and connects so well with our clients.
They had a blast hanging out at Qualicum Beach, watching the activity while enjoying their ice cream!
Paige
Paige was visiting a client with extreme mental health issues. His wife was away, and as such he hasn’t been eating properly. And as an insulin dependant diabetic this is a big concern!
Paige made him breakfast, sat with him while he ate, and even prepped a supper meal for him. The cherry on top in this case was a prefilled insulin syringe left on top of the meal with a note to take it when he eats his supper. She also started a ‘mental health assessment sheet’ for him so we can keep his psychiatrist updated for ongoing evaluation and collaboration.
Kim
Kim sat and spent extra time with a palliative patient in deteriorating health who, due to her condition, is eating less. While her blood glucose wasn’t dangerously low, Kim recognized that the low intake was an ongoing concern.
She helped her eat, and stayed to recheck her blood glucose so that we could ensure her insulin dose was going to be safe.
